Inductors Certified for Automotive Use

TT Electronics

Weybridge, UK — TT Electronics has launched a series of surface mount power inductors for high-frequency and high-temperature applications. The HA65A series induc- tors are designed to meet a growing need in the auto- motive industry for certi- fied, high-power inductors specifically for buck, boost or buck-boost pow er con- verter top ol ogies to regu- late voltage at high switch- ing frequencies. Created for “low para-

sitic” performance using low-loss ferrite core materi- al and a helical coil design, the series is meant to be used in ap -plications such as DC/DC converters, low pass ripple current filters and EMI filters. The inductors have a wide operating temperature range of –40 to +155°C (–40 to +311°F) and are well-suited to operate in the most punishing automotive applications. The inductors’ low DC resist-

ance figures and low core loss help provide efficiency. The shielded design improves

system level EMI performance, and their AEC-Q200 Rev D, Grade 1

automotive certification allows them to be used in all types of passenger vehicles. Some possible applications include use in automotive power

Bird Technologies Releases Digital Signal Booster

Solon, OH — Bird Technologies, a provider of RF components, subsys- tems and test equipment, has released the model 614 series of digi- tal signal boosters designed to increase the signal strength of land- mobile and public safety communica- tions systems operating at either 450 to 470MHz or 470 to 488MHz. The system is configurable and

combines the benefits of programma- ble digital RF filters, the cryptogra- phy and security of the SNMPv3 con- trol protocol, browser-based configu- ration and management, and the ability to view changes to filter char- acteristics while viewing their effects in real-time. The signal boosters are housed in

NEMA 4 type enclosures which makes them suitable for use in stadiums, air- ports, office buildings, hospitals, tun- nels, and any place lacking adequate signal coverage. They are fully certi- fied to meet FCC and Industry Canada certifications as either Class A or Class B boosters depending on their configuration, and provide good spectral purity. The series also has up to 28 programmable RF filters each for the uplink and downlink paths and allow the user to configure their center frequency, bandwidths from 6.25kHz to 1.5MHz, and other characteristics. Custom filter shapes can also be

created to meet specific application requirements. The system also allows the rele-

vant area of RF spectrum to be viewed, including interfering signals, while simultaneously overlaying fil- ter characteristics and their effects. Complete control and configurability are possible from any computer on an Ethernet network or virtually any- where web access is available.

The highest level of control

security is provided by the latest SNMP protocol, which includes DES encryption and authentication, and other features include pilot signal injection to enable quick assessment of system performance, and the abil- ity to detect and mitigate signal oscillations. The 614 series has an RF out-

put of +32dBm in high-power mode and +22dBm in low-power mode with a maximum RF input power up to –20dBm, and gain of up to 95dB. The

boosters operate in a temperature range of –30 to +60°C, measure 30 x 20 x 10in, weigh 95 pounds and oper- ate from either +24VDC or 90 to 240VAC supplies. Custom models
