XJTAG Improves Its Boundary Scan Development System
Cambridge, U.K. — XJTAG, a supplier of boundary scan technology, has released version 3.4 of its De- velopment System, which introduces improve- ments in visibility of complex systems during all phases of product development and manufacture. Through its ability to test and control JTAG-
enabled devices, Boundary Scan is becoming more useful when developing and debugging electronic products. As part of its in-circuit debugging and vi- sualization tool, XJAnalyser, XJTAG has devel- oped Waveform Viewer, which offers engineers a live, correlated view showing the digital signal lev- els and transitions of acquired JTAG chain data. As well as displaying live data, the viewer
also supports triggering, allowing circuit behavior to be captured under specific condi- tions, and when particular events occur. This can greatly improve an engineering team’s ability to capture information and track down intermit- tent faults. Through JTAG it is possible to
observe and capture run-time func- tionality, even under BGA devices where pins are not accessible to a standard logic analyzer. Waveform Viewer also supports the same pin driving and toggling functionality of- fered in Chain View within XJ- Analyser, allowing users to drive sig- nals from JTAG and observe the rest of the board. XJTAG v3.4 improves support
for JTAG devices with multiple cores, such as advanced microprocessors, specialist SoCs and ASICs. Using multiple JTAG chains allows for more complex testing. Also, by improving its multi-core support, the test devel- opment process is improved as engi- neers are able to construct multiple test scenarios using several JTAG chains on a single board. Ghent, Belgium — Ucamco has made its all-in-one CAM software suite for the PCB industry, UcamX, available free of charge to schools, universities and other educational institutions. By giving out the suite through its special academic licensing program, the com- pany has provided teachers, re- searchers and students with valuable PCB manufacturing tools designed to enhance the learning and training process. Also, the company hopes to improve students’ employment oppor- tunities by giving them experience with real-world manufacturing tools. Academic licenses are provided
to individuals and institutions upon application to the company. The li- cense lasts for one year, during which time program updates can be downloaded as they become available and may be renewed subject to the company’s acceptance of repeat ap- plications. The license also includes the full support provided to commer- cial clients, although online video training is available only in English
