Coastal Brigade Added to Youth Leadership Program
I
N THE SUMMER OF 2016, THE 1ST BAT- talion of the Coastal Brigade will
be held at Sea Scout Base Camp Galveston. The camp will be held the last week in July. Those in- terested in attending must submit an application by March 15, 2016. It is a competitive application process and only 30 youth will be selected to participate. Texas Brigades’ mission is to educate and empower
youths with leadership skills and knowledge in wild- life, fi sheries and land stewardship to become conser- vation ambassadors for a sustained natural resource legacy. There will be 8 camps to choose from in 2016: Buckskin Brigade (2 sessions), Bobwhite Brigade (2 sessions), Bass Brigade, Waterfowl Brigade, Ranch Brigade and the new Coastal Brigade. This is a co-ed camp for youth ages 13 to 17. “We are excited to bring Texas Brigades to the coast,
and look forward to giving youth the opportunity to experience boating, saltwater fi sh, habitat management, coastal marshes and more through hands-on activities led by premier biologists and researchers in the state,” says Charriss York, camp co-coordinator and program specialist, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and Texas Sea Grant. “This camp is a unique opportunity for Texas youth, any youth interested in the outdoors should consider attending.” To receive information about applications, please
email Zelina Alvarado, Texas Brigades Program Coor- dinator, at
