Semnox system offers UK pier surprise benefits

saw that most of the them were stagnant with their product,” notes Clacton Pier Company managing director Billy Ball. “The Semnox system works and performs well, is easy to use and does exactly what it sets out to do. We have also seen some surprise benefits, one area is using data from the system to defend fraudulent insurance claims or customer feedback. We have also been able to monitor technician attendance times at our rides which helps us keep a track of costs and down time.”

for Liverpool When it opens next year, Mattel Play! Liverpool will be the first family entertainment centre of its kind in Europe to feature the popular kids’ brands Thomas & Friends, Bob the Builder and Fireman Sam. Set to open in the spring, the 13,000 sq ft outlet will be operated at the city’s Albert Dock by Heritage Great Britain PLC, the group behind landmark tourist attractions and destinations including John O’Groats, Land’s End, The Needles and Snowdon Mountain Railway. “Liverpool is the perfect location and Heritage Great Britain the perfect


partner for this new world-class attraction,” declares Julie Freeland, senior director of global live events & attractions for Mattel, the US toy company that acquired rights holder HIT Entertainment in 2012. “Our brands are known and loved by children around the world and the architectural splendour of Albert Dock provides the perfect backdrop for launching our first Mattel Play! The facility will be built for the relatively modest sum of £1.5 million


($2.3m/€2.1m) in in the Grand Hall at the Albert Dock, which enjoys a reputation as the North West of England’s most visited tourist attraction. Mattel Play! Will join existing attractions at the Dock including the Beatles Story, Merseyside Maritime Museum, International Slavery Museum, Tate Liverpool and various bars/restaurants etc. Although any further Mattel Play! outlets have yet to be confirmed at this stage, a spokesman for Heritage Great Britain says the company has a good relationship with Mattel and “great aspirations for the future.”


Sea Life and Legoland Discovery Center coming to New Jersey


Two of Merlin Entertainments’ short stay “Midway” attractions will be featured at the new American Dream New Jersey shopping mall, set to open in the US state next autumn/fall. Together the firm’s Sea Life aquarium and the Legoland Discovery Center complex will comprise occupy over 70,000 square feet (6,500 sq m) and are expected to act as a major driver of visitors to the mall. American Dream is being developed by the Triple Five Group of Companies,


owner of the two largest shopping and entertainment centres in North America, Mall of America and West Edmonton Mall, which draw nearly 70 million tourists/visitors annually and also feature indoor attractions including, in the case of the latter, a waterpark.
