SA Volleyball’s Girls’ Junior National Championships set for New Orleans June 23 to July 2 will be the last to host a full fi eld of 18-and-under teams. USA Volleyball announced that the City of Milwaukee has been selected to host the inaugural 18-and-Under Spring USA Volleyball Girls’ Junior Championships set for April 30-May 1, 2016. This new event, with just the 18s age divi- sions, will be held at the Wisconsin Center in Milwaukee. The event will crown winners in the Open, National and USA Divisions as has hap- pened in previous USA Volleyball Girls’ Junior National Championships (GJNC). In addition, this event will add an all-comers Patriot Division

The 18 American Division will continue to be held at the summer GJNC. The 2015 GJNC, held June 22-July 3 in New Orleans, will have 18s Divisions for Open, National, USA and American prior to next year’s split. The move to break off most of the 18-and- under divisions from the GJNC is in response to a growing trend of seniors in high school looking to end their club season earlier than the tradi- tional timeframe of late June into early July. This event will give teams the option of ending their season earlier or playing in this Championship and continuing their season with other events.

“I’m very much looking forward to this fi rst edition of the Spring GJNC for 18s being hosted by Milwaukee,” USA Volleyball Senior Director Tom Pingel said. “Milwaukee and the Badger Region has a long history of hosting great vol- leyball events, whether indoor or on the Beach. I’m certain that it will be a memorable event for all involved.” “VISIT Milwaukee is thrilled to be hosting

this fi rst-time event for USA Volleyball,” said Marissa Werner, VISIT Milwaukee’s sports and entertainment sales manager. “Milwaukee has a strong volleyball community and we plan to make this a fun experience for all the athletes and their families.”
