How did you get started in the shooting sports? Along with most things,


I tell them ‘My mom made me do it.’ I began shooting 22lr when I was in 6th grade for my 4-H club. I quickly advanced in ability, eventu- ally shooting nationals, but lacked interest in pursuing. I still remember to this day the very fi rst time I prac- ticed with my new team the Burlington High School Trap- shooting Team. I remember being intimidated by all the other kids with better guns. I shot my fi rst round of prac- tice with a black pump ac-

tion Benelli Nova shotgun. From there I fell in love with clay shooting. I gained suc- cess early shooting my fi rst 25/25 two months after I started and then a year later running my fi rst 100 straight. Things like that are what make memories as a junior shooter. I will for- ever remember those mile- stones.

ting down with Myles for our interview, around 10:30pm, we found Myles holding in position with his Krieghoff amidst the


lockers in the Olympic Training Center armory. He never even walked in his high school gradua- tion because he chose to attend a camp for bunker instead. Rather than go- ing out with friends every night or spending time elsewhere, Walker choos- es the road less traveled, the road he hopes that will steer him to Olympic gold. I plan to go to the Olym- pics. Who doesn’t if you’re at the same level with some of the best shotgun shooters in the nation and the world?
