ALL ABOUT YOU — TRAINING
Travel Weekly’
s exciting partnership with Travel Uni brings you
the very best online training in the industry. This week, the focus is on the Caribbean islands of Antigua and Barbuda
A PLACE ON A FAM TRIP TO ANTIGUA IS PAR FORTHE COURSE
Could your Antigua and Barbuda bookings do with a boost? Well now is the perfect time to get learning because the destination’s tourist board is giving agents the chance to earn a spot on a fam trip. The Antigua & Barbuda Tourism Authority
recently revamped its online training course to make it simpler for agents to learn essential information about the destination. You could be one of 15
agents heading to the islands. All you need to do to enter the prize draw is to complete the online training modules.
Joel Henry,
marketing and business development manager for the Caribbean islands, said: “The Antigua & Barbuda training course was last year’s winner of the Travel Uni programme of the year. “It provides news and updates on developments on the islands, including the new airport, hotels and an exciting calendar of activities including sporting matches, music festivals and gastronomic events. “Travel agents are encouraged to learn about these and could win a place on a seven-night fam trip to Antigua, departing on November 9 from Manchester.” Thomas Cook Airlines is the only airline
operating from Manchester to Antigua. Henry added: “Agents will be able to experience the new airport and learn first-hand about Antigua’s key messages – such as its famous 365 white and pink sand beaches.”

DOING THINGS BY HALVES
The course is divided into two modules. The first is about the things that make Antigua and Barbuda great, while the second highlights facts about the destination. The website is the place to go for information to help you sell the two islands, advice on where to book and facts to help you entice a customer into wanting to visit these Caribbean gems.

The Carib name
for Antigua is Wadadli. However, many locals believe it was coined by a
singer called King Short Shirt, who wrote a song using
the word. And look out for Antigua’s local beer – called Wadadli!
