THE MACHINE BUILDING SHOW 2015 O
n 30th September and 1st October this year, the annual Machine Building Show (
www.machinebuildingshow.co.uk) will be taking place
at the NEC Birmingham. The event will not only cover a comprehensive variety of products aimed at the machine builder and system integrator, but there will also be a free-to-attend informative seminar programme taking place throughout the two-day event. The Machine Building Show will be co-located with the Sensors &
Instrumentation (
www.sensorsandinstrumentation.co.uk) and Micro|Nano|MEMS shows (
www.micronanomems.com). Now in its sixth year, Sensors & Instrumentation is a national exhibition that covers products ranging from sensors & transducers, and flow & level measurement technologies, to test & measurement tools and data acquisition equipment. It will also include seminar sessions covering a range of interesting topics, a keynote conference programme and new ‘Innovation Showcase’ feature. Micro|Nano|MEMS, meanwhile, is the annual show for micro, precision, MEMS and nano manufacturing technologies. This event covers technologies such as micro injection moulding, laser micromachining, and assembly and test equipment. All three events will once again be co-located with the PPMA Show
B&R PRODUCT OF THE MONTH reACTION technology for ultrafast safety applications
B&R is heralding a breakthrough in response times for safety technology with the world's fastest response times. reACTION technology achieves safety response times down to 100 µs. With this advancement, B&R is extending the use of reACTION technology into the area of safety

one-day event – to highlight future developments in British
manufacturing – proved so successful that it was twice oversubscribed and was extended to a second day to meet demand. The Future Manufacturing Event,
organised by industrial automation specialist, Mitsubishi Electric and hosted by the Advanced
Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) at Sheffield University, combined seminar sessions with a carefully focused exhibition. It brought together practising engineers and leading technologists to discuss practical implementations of the current trends in the manufacturing and processing industries. “Topics covered by the seminar speakers focused on two key issues namely; Energy Legislation and Solutions and Industry 4.0 and the Industrial Internet of Things,” said Mitsubishi Electric’s Garry Lewis. “The seminars and complimentary exhibition area focused the discussions very much on issues of the day. The exhibition area showcased many examples of
applications. This technology makes it possible for time-critical sub- processes to be executed directly in the I/O modules, which reduces response times by a factor of 100 or more. What's more, no expensive special hardware is needed to use reACTION technology, and programming is just as easy as it is for conventional control solutions. Relief for controller and network The reACTION module handles a portion of the processing, relieving both the controller and the network and in many cases allowing them to be scaled down without affecting response times. In most cases, the resulting savings more than outweigh the added cost of the reACTION modules. B&R Industrial Automation

integrated solutions from complimentary suppliers, which included vision systems, vibration monitoring and energy management.” Mitsubishi Electric also used the
event to launch its iQ-R series PAC controller and the iQ-F compact PLC series. The centrepiece of the exhibition featured the Mitsubishi Electric product demonstration wall, which showed Mitsubishi’s total integration capability, from Low Voltage Switchgear (LVS) through robot and motion integration of the iQ PLC platform, the new iQ-F and iQ-R series CNC control, MAPS SCADA and the iQ Works engineering suite.
