Ellis apprentice presented with top training award A

Training Association’s Apprentice of the Year (final year workplace NVQ). Adam, 26 from Rillington – home to Ellis’s HQ – was honoured following the completion of his three-year Advanced Apprenticeship in Toolmaking. Bob Watmore, training and assessment manager of Derwent Training Association, said: “Adam showed throughout his apprenticeship the highest desire to challenge himself and achieve the best possible learning outcomes, while always looking to take every opportunity to maximise his capabilities. “He is a real role model for other apprentices, and it was a pleasure to work with someone who recognised the value of approaching an apprenticeship in such a manner. He deserved the award as much for his attitude as the work he put in.”

From an employee point of view, an apprenticeship means learning and earning, at the end of which you have a qualification and up to three-years’ work experience on your CV, and have avoided running up potentially crippling student debts. “While from our point of view, we get to

Toolstation opens new branches in Greater London


T


oolstation, the tools, accessories and building supplies chain, has opened


new branches in Sydenham and Isleworth, creating seven jobs at each site. Toolstation’s dedication to products and service


has resulted in the company becoming one of the fastest growing trade and DIY suppliers. John Meaden, Director of Marketing, said: “Our


growth plans in 2015 are set to see the total amount of Toolstation branches in the UK climb to over 210 by the end of the year. “The two branches opening in Sydenham and


Isleworth give us an opportunity to continue to expand in Greater London, greatly enhancing our presence in each area, as well as enabling us to be nearer to our busy customers. “We now have over 40 branches within the M25, with these new branches opening up fourteen new local jobs, and we are really excited to be operating excellent service in each area.”
