Product Finder Martindale’s new Vi1500 takes safe

isolation to another level Now available from Martindale Electric – leaders in safe isolation – is the VI1500, part of the industry standard range of Voltage Indicators, extending safe isolation procedures into higher voltage applications The VI1500 has a 1000V CATIV safety rating and LED indication for AC/DC voltages from 50V to 690V and above, ensuring

compliance with health and safety recommendations for safe working in all BS EN61010 installation categories. It’s the simplest and most reliable way to ensure circuits have been de-energised and isolated prior to maintenance and modifications. Based on the VI3800, the new CATIV design not only provides improved protection against voltage transients, but also includes a high wattage resistor that will limit the current in the event of damage to the cable in accordance with BS EN61243- 3. The protection is built in where it’s needed, in the handheld probe assembly. Fully compliant with HSE GS38 regulations, the VI1500 comes with heavy duty two layer double insulated leads and features bright LEDs to clearly identify the voltage present in five levels with thresholds of up to 690V. The indicator, which requires no batteries, will identify both AC and DC sources and show polarity. The VI1500 is available on its own or as part of a kit containing everything needed for on-site working.

Dimplex Q-Rad Dimplex’s new Q-Rad electric radiator combines radiant and convection heating elements with delayed start anticipatory control, for economical heat when it is wanted. Even the air outlet louvres have been optimised to speed up heat- up time and help direct hot air into the room. The intuitive self-learning algorithm determines a room’s thermal

characteristics and calculates how long the appliance needs to reach a target temperature based on room size, heat losses and the prevailing weather. This delayed start feature enables Q-Rad to decide when to start heating to reach the user’s target temperature, at a specified time. Q- Rad can even detect an open window, shutting down to a half-power setting to save energy. The combination of radiant and convection heating enables a higher heat output for the same chassis size as comparable products, delivering a more sleek and attractive appliance, and also offers the potential to reduce running costs. Those close to the heater will feel the benefit of radiant heat, similar to a wet system radiator. In many situations, the user can achieve their desired comfort levels with a lower ambient air temperature. Q-Rad also includes one of the most accurate controls available. Easy to fit, it comes in a choice of

sizes for different heating loads. uwww.dimplex.co.uk
