Product Finder Diamonds are forever

Super Rod’s new Diamond Dry – a diamond grit hole saw from ProFit – will revolutionise drilling through abrasive materials. Designed to be used on surfaces such as ceramic tiles, marble and granite, Diamond Dry is the first diamond hole saw to be launched onto the market with a centre drill, making damage to expensive surfaces such as marble worktops a thing of the past. Installers now simply pre-drill a pilot hole with the 7mm centre drill, attach the hole saw for the desired size and drill a perfect hole – no need for constant lubrication with water or risk of damage due to runaway cutting. Diamond Dry comes in more than 17 diameters, from 5-110mm. It can be used with a normal

cordless hand drill and has the benefit of being equipped with the unique Click and Drill system, allowing installers to easily remove the plug from the hole saw after use. MD Malcolm Duncan said: “Drilling through surfaces such as tiles, marble and granite using other drill bits has always been an

onerous task with a high risk of damage when you attempt to break through the surface – and that’s before you have even started! The Diamond Dry solves these problems allowing installers to drill a clean, precise hole every time.”

solution to new 17th edition changes Martindale Electric is pleased to announce the launch of its new ET Series of Multifunctional Electrical Installation Testers, which have been designed to meet the requirements contained within the latest Amendment 3 changes to the 17th Edition Wiring Regulations effective from January 2015. Designed to verify the safety of electrical installations in domestic, commercial and industrial installations, the new range of ET4000 and ET4500 testers simplify 17th Edition testing by featuring the latest third amendment fuse tables, built-in together with red and green LED indicators, for instant pass/fail confirmation of all main test functions. On connection the new ET Series of Multifunctional Electrical Installation Testers also carry out an

automatic polarity and wiring check, identifying potentially dangerous wiring faults in advance of any testing. The new multifunctional testers from Martindale Electric feature auto RCD functions which can

cycle through all the required tests and clearly display all 4 sets of results in one go and on one screen, reducing errors and speeding up the job. This is particularly useful with the increasing use of RCDs following the changes in amendment 3. The new series of testers feature a high level of

input protection and a CAT IV safety rating, ensuring a high level of safety and reliability. Both models also include phase sequence indication.

Dimplex has launched a new range of tubular heaters with adjustable thermostatic control, enabling low-cost background heating and frost protection without the need for continuous operation.

Unlike most similar heaters, the adjustable thermostat can be used to control the operation of Dimplex’s tubular heater, keeping running costs to a minimum and allowing the product to be turned off when not in use. Suitable for domestic and commercial applications, there are six models from one foot (40W) to six foot (240W). Each has a frost setting offering more economical use, only powering the product when the temperature is very low. These control features mean that in most cases, the heater will achieve payback in less than a

year including fitting when compared to a model without a thermostat. Each heater is IPX4 rated, making them suitable for use in greenhouses. A linking kit is also

available for the banking and easy wiring of multiple heaters. Shaun Hurworth, product manager for Dimplex, said: “Tubular heaters of this kind have a wide range of applications. The addition of a fully adjustable thermostat with added frost protection setting to our latest models will ensure lower running costs and more efficient use, with an unbeatable payback period of less than 12 months.”

Autodry Rapid range features a ‘Hands-In’ model and a ‘Hands- Under’ model, both of which boast the ability to cut drying time and reduce running costs, something that will undoubtedly be welcome in any commercial application where frequent hand washing and therefore drying takes place. These will both dry hands in a speedy 10 seconds, which helps to reduce queues in washrooms and the time spent waiting for the dryer to become free. As well as

reducing expenditure and energy usage, the Autodry Rapid models are packed with useful features. The hands-in model offers a hygienic solution thanks to the integral antibacterial filter that prevents airbourne germs from being sucked into the unit and subsequently being blown onto clean hands.
