Aico heat alarms recommended by award-winning sprinkler alternative

manufacturer Aico’s Ei164RC mains powered heat alarm has been recommended by British manufacturer Plumis for use with its award-winning Automist home fire safety system. Automist, a

convenient alternative to traditional sprinkler systems, uses watermist technology to extinguish fires. And it uses just 5% of the water consumed by traditional sprinklers. An Aico heat alarm triggers the Automist system via a Relay Module. A heat alarm is ideal to use in this type of application as it is only triggered by high temperatures (58°C), rather than smoke, so Automist will not be accidentally triggered. The Ei164RC heat alarm from Aico is

recommended by Plumis for use with Automist due to its quality build, exceptional reliability and reputation within the market. The heat alarm can be interconnected with

Automist by hard-wiring or by RadioLINK. RadioLINK uses Radio Frequency (RF) signals for interconnection, removing the need to run additional interconnection wiring, saving time and eliminating the need to redecorate or run unsightly trunking. The Ei164RC heat alarm is part of Aico’s 160

Series of mains powered alarms, which includes Heat, Optical and Ionisation models, all with 10 year plus Lithium cell back-up for total peace of mind.

All alarms are designed and built in Europe to meet UK standards and regulations.

7w IP44 standard rectangular

bulkheads with PIR or photocell options are another major feature, whilst also available are half lanterns and full lanterns with PIR options, plus 30w COB wallpacks with or without photo cell. While 80% of these lines are new to the Meridian range, they all meet the stringent quality

No bright sparks! Super Rod have developed a non-conductive Polymer Rod Set, which, in addition to general cable

routing tasks, can be used to install cable in electrically sensitive areas, such as computer housings, data cabinets and manufacturing equipment. As the Polymer Rod Set is an entirely moulded product, it has a reduced price point. The rods have

varying degrees of flexibility, whilst the polymer attachments have a photo-luminescent pigment, so they glow in the dark! Super Rod’s MD, Malcolm Duncan said: “Super Rod’s main rod sets use a high quality brass to provide incredible tensile strength, but the brass fittings are not ideal for use in sensitive areas as they can interfere with equipment; the GRP does not conduct electricity, but

unfortunately, the brass fittings do.

“We received feedback from customers who wanted a totally non-conductive solution, so we made it happen.” South Wales electrician, Tom Walker, received one of the first Polymer Rod Sets. He said: “It’s great to have access to a totally non-

conductive cable installation tool. It is also perfectly suited to general cable installations, such as through walls, ceilings etc. This kit will really make the difference on those awkward cable installation jobs. “The thread type is the same as the Cable Rod range, which makes both products compatible.”
