Sci-fi fantasy by FORREC Loop Fighter Zero Gravity Dark Ride

MOIpark’s space age surroundings were designed by FORREC, the well-known creator of entertainment and leisure environments, which has considerable form when it comes to indoor park projects, including Nickelodeon Universe at the Mall of America in Minnesota and the brand new Wanda Movie Park in Wuhan, China. “MOIpark is an out-of-this-world fantasy environment,” highlight’s FORREC’s project manager Uri Grinbaum. “Way in the future, a comet strikes the earth creating Mountain Adventure, an otherworldly ecosystem where the normal rules of nature have been upended. It is a land of incredible rock formations, unusual plant growth, and strange friendly creatures. Unable to return home, the energetic ‘Rockheads’ create a fun park in the mountain, building attractions with the salvage of their rockets.” FORREC provided concept and programme development, attraction design, graphics and signage, interior design and oversight of the design through the park’s construction and installation. The project team was supported by consultant architect was Baran Uyan. Audiovisual was by Electrosonic, and lighting design by Mulvey + Banani. Ride and attractions suppliers are detailed elsewhere in this feature. “MOIpark is an exciting new addition to Turkey’s largest city and reflective of the boom in the region,” observes Anthony van Dam, executive vice-president of FORREC, “and the Mall of Istanbul is a flagship mixed- use development that includes office and residential towers along with one of Europe's largest shopping malls. In addition to iconic architecture, the development has successfully differentiated itself by highlighting its entertainment offerings, which comprise 30% of the mall. The family entertainment centre – MOIpark – is now a popular attraction and an outstanding example of the trend towards entertainment-driven experiential retail.”
