Profi le: La.M.Plast Di Aldo Redaelli (Lamplast) was founded as a family business some four decades ago and has since developed a strong local presence through its product portfolio of polypropylene compounds and compounds for cable applications. In recent years the company has striven to develop its business outside of Italy and more than 70% is now exported. Overall compounding capacity is currently rated at 100,000 tonnes/year.

Product line: Lamplast manufactures a wide range of PP compounds which are sold under the Syntegum brand. Mineral-fi lled grades account for more than 80% of output, followed by glass-fi lled and impact-modifi ed grades. The mineral- fi lled portfolio includes small volumes of 70% fi lled CaCO3

masterbatch. The

majority of PP compounds are supplied to the automotive sector for lighting, under-the-bonnet and interior parts. The company also serves the appliance and furniture sectors. The cable compounds account for approximately 45% of output and are based on EVA, PE, butyl rubber or EPDM.

Product strengths: Lamplast has a well-respected in-house engineering capability that enables it to manufacture its own twin-screw compounding machinery for the production of PP compounds. In 2011 it installed a new line with an output of about 5 tonnes/hour.
