JSC Concern Avrora Scientific
and Production Association has more than half a century of expe- rience in creation of facilities for training of ship specialists. Devel- opment of this line of scientific and production activities has start- ed with creation of special control training simulators. At the present day, the Concern creates special tactical training systems (STTS), shore-based training systems (SBTS) and training centers (TC). Creation of training simulators is
based on the following fundamental techno-pedagogical principles: 1. Principle of structural com- pleteness of a training facility. It consists in availability of three mandatory components: construc- tional (an exact replica of operator workstation’s exterior), model (an all-mode model of controlled ob- ject) and pedagogical (accounting of training objectives and tasks). 2. Implementation of the el-
ements of instructional design, starting with the moment of tech- nical assignment receipt and end- ing with the warranty and service maintenance of supplied products.
tem at any level, when training fa- cilities are created by means of in- tegration of different modules and special training simulators, provid- ing in such a way the system adap- tation to a wide range of combat training objectives. 5. Principle of consideration of environmental factors: simulation of ship motion, noise of operating ma- chinery, composition of gas atmos- phere in compartments, rooms etc. 6. Possibility of training the in-
tellectual skills in the process of decision making in case of emer- gency and non-routine situations and in conditions of emotional tension and time shortage. Instructor workstation (IWS) in composition of any training simu- lator, besides traditional functions of training process planning, con- duction of all kinds of classes and control of equipment operation, is provided with the capability to con- trol training of operators by means of training status indices. This intel- lectual function has corresponding model functionality and enables an instructor to see the dynamics of each operator’s training at any stage of training session and to work on it. Tactical module includes the
following: AOWS of a naval force commander, a surface ship com- mander, a submarine commander, an aviation control console, AOWS of shore-based facilities of a shore- based command center. AOWS of
a surface ship and a submarine allows solving information tasks, tactical maneuvering and weapon employment tasks. It should be noted that tactical
module ensures implementation of the main didactical principle of command personnel training – equivalence of information they receive on a training simulator to the real one. Fragment of a special tactical
training system is shown in the Fig. 1.
Besides the training facilities for
some time past the Concern Avrora creates the line of technical train- ing aids (TTA) based on state-of- the-art information technologies. These include automated train-
ing courses (ATC), integrated in- structional systems (IIS) and group instructional systems (GIS). All the listed software facilities
provide pre-training preparation of ship specialists, improving the ef- ficiency of training system use. Creation of technical training
aids of new generation is one of the priority areas of the Concern Avrora activities. In their technical specifications
and pedagogical capabilities the training facilities of the Concern Avrora are highly competitive with the best world-class products and can satisfy the most sophisticated customer. The advertorial is based on the
