Why consistently dependable monito Genelec
IN A TIME WHEN MASSIVE CONSOLES ARE BEING REPLACED WITH COMPACT CONTROLLERS AND OUTBOARD EQUIPMENT IS SWAPPED FOR SOFTWARE PLUG-INS, ONE ESSENTIAL STUDIO ELEMENT THAT CAN’T BE PUT IN ‘THE BOX’ ARE STUDIO MONITORS. AMONGST THESE SYSTEMS, ONE OF THE MOST ARCHETYPAL ELEMENTS OF STUDIO EQUIPMENT IS THE CLASSIC DESIGN OF GENELEC MONITORS.

3-way Smart Active Monitors
As audio professionals are forced to work in smaller rooms with tighter budgets, maintaining consistently high quality work becomes increasingly difficult. Combatting uneven low
frequencies in these smaller mixing environments becomes key to producing the best sounding mixes. To counteract this common acoustical constraint, Genelec has introduced the
1237A (12-inch woofer, 118 dB SPL) and the 1238A (15-inch woofer, 120 dB SPL) monitors to provide reference source reliability with a truly flat frequency response, optimised efficiency and ultra-low distortion.

Genelec Loudspeaker Manager (GLM™) control networking system with AutoCal™ via a sophisticated software platform that can adjust all aspects of the monitor settings, including alignment and adjustment of level, timing, crossover phase and equalisation of room response anomalies.
The Directivity Control Waveguide (DCW™) technology
improves the directivity characteristics of these direct radiating three-way monitors by matching the frequency response and directivity characteristics to each transducer. Room and
Philosophy
Genelec’s design philosophy combines efficiency with sustainability and conservation of natural resources to produce products that are made with a keen awareness for environmental issues, yet still provide the highest levels of audio reproduction. These environmental concerns are considered during manufacturing, shipping and the product life span, giving Genelec monitors an extremely small carbon footprint.

equipment reflections are markedly reduced at the mix position to offer a neutral and balanced sound imaging, on and off axis, ensuring that the mix translates perfectly to other systems.
New amplifier technology has also been integrated into the design of the 1237A and 1238A to further enhance
performance and efficiency. Highly efficient, low noise Class D amplifiers power the woofer and the midrange driver, while
a Class AB amplifier powers the tweeter. The tweeter amplifier is a tried and tested design modeled after Genelec’s early technology that has been in use for over three decades. The
new RAM-L (Remote Amplifier Module) amplifier is included on the back of the enclosure, but can easily be removed and installed in a separate standard 19-inch rack unit.
