CONNECTING TO THE INTERNET – Each room is equipped with one voice jack (black) and one high-speed data jack (orange) per person. The wireless network “depaulsecure” is also available for your convenience. Information Services recommends that you use the wired network as your primary network connection for optimal performance and security.


HOW TO CONNECT TO THE DEPAUL WIRELESS NETWORK ON A PC: 1. To connect to DePaul’s wireless network, make sure your wifi adapter is turned on and click on the wifi bars on the bottom right of your desktop 2. When the list of wifi connections comes up, locate “depaulsecure” and click on it 3. When prompted with a username and password box, enter your Campus Connect login information 4. When prompted with a Windows Security Alert, select connect 5. When you see the word “connected” next to the depaulsecure network you are successfully connected to the network


HOW TO CONNECT TO THE DEPAUL WIRELESS NETWORK ON A MAC: 1. To connect to DePaul’s wireless network, click the airport menu bar icon in the top right of your screen and select “depaulsecure” 2. When prompted with a username and password box, input your Campus Connect login information 3. When prompted with a Verify Certificate box, select continue


4. When you see a check mark next to the depaulsecure network you are successfully connected to the network


Personal routers, including wireless routers, may not be used on DePaul’s network. Violations of this, or any other technology-related policy, may result in a student’s network connectivity being temporarily or permanently disabled. If additional data ports for multiple network devices are needed, you can use a network switch. These devices are not supported by the university, and if they are configured incorrectly, your network connectivity may be disabled. To

GAME SYSTEMS - Residents will need to work with the Technology Center for help with setting up gaming systems.


PHONE SERVICES – Residence hall rooms are equipped with analog telephone connections that provide free local calling and standard calling features, including call waiting, three-way calling and call forwarding. You need to provide your own telephone. Voicemail is also available for free upon request by contacting the Technology Support Center at (773) 325-HELP (4357). On-campus calls can be placed by dialing the last five digits of any DePaul number (2-xxxx, 5-xxxx, 6-xxxx or 7-xxxx). Off-campus calls can be placed by dialing 9 + 1 + the ten-digit number. Your telephone number is (773) 687-xxxx and is printed on the jack.


COMPUTER LABS – Community computer labs are located throughout campus and feature PC and Mac computers that are equipped with a variety of software, as well as a print station. Please inform the Technology Support Center at (773) 325-HELP (4357) of any problems with the technology. For more information on lab locations and hours, please visit is.depaul.edu. Note: paper supplied for Intelliprint stations is to be used only for the Intellliprint station. Students who bring their own personal printer should also supply their own paper.


COMPUTER SECURITY – Once connected to DePaul’s network, please visit Microsoft’s Windows Update website (windowsupdate.microsoft.com)

the available critical updates and security patches. We recommend that you set your computers to automatically update, as new security patches are released frequently. DePaul strongly recommends that you enable your operating system’s built-in firewall and have anti-virus software running to protect your computer while you are connected to our network.
