Considering a change to your medical insurance coverage? Insurance Changes Allowed from November to February due to ACA Rules
A
S WE APPROACH THE END OF THE YEAR, THE CATTLE Raisers Insurance staff continues to be devoted to keeping our members informed of how the
Affordable Care Act (ACA) is changing medical care coverage in the U.S., and how these changes affect your coverage. With the implementation of ACA, a new open en-
rollment period for individual health insurance plans was established. What this means to TSCRA members, and all individuals, is that we no longer have the op- portunity to purchase a new medical plan or make a change to our current medical plan at any time of our choosing throughout the year. Due to ACA, there are regulated times of the year
during which we are allowed to make revisions to our medical plans. The specifi c dates during which you can change your medical coverage occur during an open enrollment period, unless a qualifying “life event” should occur. Life events are changes in marital status, birth of a child or loss of employment. The next open enrollment period will begin Nov. 15 and end Feb. 15, 2015.
If you are contemplating
a change to your current medical plan – whether to increase your deductible or to see what changes may allow you potential cost savings – November to Febru- ary is the time of year to look at alternative medical plan options. The Cattle Raisers Insurance staff is here to assist
you in reviewing the medical plan offerings that best suit your family and your business needs. If you desire to place a new medical plan effective as of Jan. 1, 2015,
