and committee meetings featured an update on the state’s tricho- moniasis program by Texas State Veterinarian Dr. Dee Ellis, Texas Animal Health Commission, and a federal issues briefi ng from Kristina Butts, National Cattlemen’s Beef Association. In the evening, attendees enjoyed
a barbecue dinner and watched the Texas Rangers take on the Miami Marlins at Globe Life Ballpark in Arlington. The summer meet ing was
wrapped up the morning of June 11 with a general session and board meeting. Attendees heard from TSCRA’s offi cers and leaders about the latest association activities, policy priorities and resolutions decided during the previous day’s committee meetings. They also received an update on the recent Texas Beef Checkoff referendum vote. One resolution from the associa-
tion’s Natural Resources and Envi- ronment Committee was passed to show TSCRA’s support for the Graz- ing Lands Conservation Initiative. The general session’s final
speaker was Kathleen Jackson, director of the Texas Water Devel- opment Board. She discussed how the board serves the citizens and communities of Texas by provid- ing leadership, planning, fi nan- cial assistance, information and education for the conservation and responsible development of water for the state.
