Livermore Rod and Gun Club To Work With CA Youth Shooting Sport Association
Livermore Rod and Gun
Club has been working with the California Youth Shoot- ing Sport Association (CYS- SA) in their endeavor to start offering International trap to those youth that are inter- ested in taking their shoot- ing abilities one step further. Livermore Certifi ed Training Center (CTC) is proud to have the CYSSA using the facility in their fi rst match. “At the Livermore CTC, we want to encourage those that want to come out and try it,” said Michael Gover, Coach at the CTC.
April 6 was the start to
the CYSSA inaugural bunker shooting competitions. The CYSSA had three competi- tions scheduled for their inaugural bunker season.
Martinez Gun Club and Coon Creek Gun Club were host to the following months bunker competition with the CYSSA. At the CYSSA match, Nello
Seanstopoulos, the bunker manager gave the shooters a big welcome and instruc- tions on the rules and regu- lations of International trap. For most of the youth shoot- ers, this was their fi rst time shooting bunker. We had a great turnout for this event: the 24 shooters - that’s four full squads - that came from various areas of Northern & Central California. At the match with the
CYSSA, Branden Gover (Los Banos Tigers Trap Team) was awarded fi rst place, Tim Minkel (Livermore Rod & Gun Club) was awarded sec-
ond place and Tori Rothman (Coon Creek) was awarded was awarded third place. We had great weather
and great turnout! And we can’t forget the great staff from CYSSA, Jon Roth and Rich and Kathleen Lynch. We look forward to being the host facility to the CYSSA Bunker Division again. Also, we are excited to say
that we have installed dou- ble trap to the CTC! Our goal is to offer doubles in addi- tion to trap for competitions in the next year. We want the athletes in the area to have choices. Offering double in addition to trap gives us an opportunity to reach out to those that are interested. We already have a few ath- letes interested and can’t
wait to come out and shoot some doubles. On top of the state Junior
Olympics, we participated in Olympic Day 2014 – our very fi rst! We joined hundreds of other facilities in this Olym- pic Day celebration. Accord- ing to the Olympic Commit- tee web site; “Olympic Day, held annually, is celebrated by thousands of people, in more than 160 countries. Commemorating the birth of the modern Olympic Games, Olympic Day is not only a celebration, but an interna- tional effort to promote fi t- ness and well-being in addi- tion to Olympic ideals of fair play, perseverance, respect, and sportsmanship.” Partici- pating in this event we hope to inspire athletes to con- tinue on with their Olympic dreams.
