Tailor-made long-haul specialist Experience Travel Group is to work proactively with the trade for the first time.


The company, a member of the Association of Independent Tour Operators, offers holidays to Sri Lanka, its biggest destination, Burma, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysian Borneo, the Maldives, Thailand and Vietnam. In the past year, about 5% of its sales have came via the trade, a figure co-founder and director Sam Clark hopes will increase to 20% over the next year. He is in the early stages of talks


with Advantage and has appointed Godley Read Consultancy to establish initial relationships with independent agents.


He said: “We’ve never tried to push sales through the trade, but we have realised it’s a good fit. We are working out which agents would work with us best,


rather than taking a scattergun approach.” The operator sends away 600 passengers a year. “We are growing at a rate of 20% per year but we don’t want to be huge, we still want to be personal,” said Clark.
