Escorted touring brands to resume Egypt programme Juliet Dennis
Tour operator brands Trafalgar, Insight Vacations and Contiki and river cruise line Uniworld are to resume operations to Egypt. The Travel Corporation’s
escorted touring brands and its cruise line will reintroduce their Egypt programmes for the 2014- 15 season after closely monitoring the situation in the country. Youth brand Contiki will restart
trips from September, while Trafalgar and Insight Vacations will have tours on sale for January 2015 onwards and Uniworld river cruises will be offered on the
Nile from September 2015 on refurbished ship River Tosca. Travel Corporation chief
executive Brett Tollman said: “We have been monitoring the destination closely and after extensive consultation with our
teams on the ground, and our travel partners in each market, we are pleased to confirm a return to Egypt later this year. “Guest safety is the utmost priority and so we will maintain constant dialogue with colleagues in the region ahead of our planned recommencement dates.” The group reported pent-up demand for Egypt. “Recognising that tourism
historically represents about 30% of Egypt’s gross domestic product, it is important that we, as an industry, show our support for this great country,” he said.
