Hamamatsu Photonics has introduced a back-illuminated 16-channel photodiode array (PDA), designed for use in X-ray non- destructive testing applications. The S11299 uses flip-chip technology that allows the PDA to receive scintillation light from the back side of the array. This flip-chip approach reduces the need for gold bond wires and junction layers on the light input side, vastly reducing the risk of wire bond damage during scintillator mounting. OSI Laser Diode has introduced the latest detector in its avalanche photodiode (APD) family, the LAPD 1550-30R. The low-noise, high- sensitivity, 30µm indium gallium arsenide (InGaAs) mesa structure joins the company’s 75 and 200µm APD series. The high speed LAPD 1550-30R operates at 3.5GHz and features a broad voltage breakdown curve of 30V (minimum) to 40V (maximum) with a typical response of 37V.

Ideal for applications in range-

finding, optical time-domain reflectometers (OTDRs), and high-sensitivity line receivers, the detector is housed in a hermetically-sealed three-pin, TO46 package with a lens cap. The APD module is RoHS compliant and operates from 1,260nm to 1,650nm, with a typical operational wavelength at 1,550nm. The operating temperature ranges from -40°C to 85°C.
