BigQuestion

What’s the strangest item of lost property that you’ve ever found at your park? Was it reclaimed?

Hogne Høstmælingen, Hunderfossen Familiepark, Norway: Once some parents forgot one of their boys, and drove away from the park. Fortunately the boy was reclaimed after just five minutes. A trumpet must be the strangest lost property that never was reclaimed.

Varun Sachdeva, Luna Park Melbourne, Australia: We’ve certainly had our share of strange things handed in over the years. I think the strangest I can remember was a baby pram. How could anyone come with a pram and leave without it? At least they didn’t forget the baby! We also had a pair of crutches left and a whole bag full of wrapped birthday gifts. No one ever came back for any of these and we eventually gave them away to the Salvos (Salvation Army). I’m sure a bunch of kids enjoyed that huge bag of presents.

Molly Deese, Wild Adventures, USA: Last year at Wild Adventures a little boy lost his cochlear implant. The entire Wild Adventures team – and I mean everyone – began searching high and low for the device, which was found and returned.

Rob Norris, Seabreeze, USA: We find hundreds of backpacks and thousands of towels left at the park. But maybe the strangest was a leftover guest. At closing one night, a 12-year-old boy came to the office and told us he couldn’t find anyone from the group he came with. As it turned out, the group had left the park two hours earlier for their three hour drive home. Somehow they miscounted and thought they had everyone on the bus. We finally reached them as they neared their destination. Fortunately that night we had an after-hours employee party at the park. So we entertained the young lad and he had a very memorable night. He was finally retrieved by his embarrassed but thankful group leader.
