Products for rail security
Leading security locking specialist Kaba will present products and solutions specifically designed for use in the rail and utilities sectors. Kaba quattro pluS is the latest evolution in the company’s proven range of high security locking systems, with a new patent extension pending until 2033. This reversible key system is designed for applications where security, durability and strict key control are paramount. It also offers extensive flexibility with its interchangeable core system, allowing the cylinder core to be inserted into a range of locking solutions from cam locks, switch locks and padlocks to more traditional cylinder shapes. This also gives the
Kaba quattro pluS the ability to master key across various applications and locations, making it a powerful and efficient locking system. As well as offering a wide
variety of single-point and multi-point locking products for use on GRP or steel enclosures, Kaba has designed products to meet specific customers’ needs on a variety of cabinet and enclosure applications. An example is the Enclosure Guard designed for use on trackside signalling and communications cabinets. Its stainless steel body makes it ideal for use in an external environment whilst its locking mechanism has been designed for security and ease of use. The cylinder
is from Kaba’s quattro pluS modular core series, once again making it suitable for large and extensive master key systems across a variety of cylinder profiles. On remote buildings situated throughout the railway’s infrastructure the Kaba pushbutton lock range offers both mechanical and electronic access control. Operated by a PIN code, pushbutton locks offer customers significant cost savings as they eliminate the need for key replacement. The products are of a high robust quality with many of them suitable for external and remote sites. The locks can provide audit trails and time- limited access.
New cable management systems
On show by Armorduct will be an extensive range of steel cable management systems. The company utilises the latest CAD technology and manufacturing processes to produce a vast range of products including cable trunking, cable trays, cable baskets, and floor and perimeter products fabricated from galvanised and stainless steel. Full LUL approval has enabled the product to be available to contractors undertaking Crossrail and Underground station upgrades. This enables them to install cable trunking routes easily around curves without the necessity of costly on-site measuring and with minimum installation time. In addition, Armorduct IP-rated cable trunking is being utilised on Network Rail and Transport for London station upgrades, where work is being undertaken to modify platforms to take longer trains.
Flexicon will be launching F-Clamps, a new range of heavy-duty conduit fixing

clamps, at Infrarail. These make it easier for rail engineers to secure flexible conduit for heavy duty dynamic applications as part of a convenient modular cable protection system. The company says these products are particularly suitable for applications where conduit is subjected to higher than normal stresses, movement and/or vibration, such as on rolling stock. Available for use with flexible conduit diameters from 16 to 80mm, the product is in two halves which can be simply bolted together to secure and clamp the conduit. A central rib in the clamp fixes the corrugated conduit, preventing longitudinal movement and any risk that the conduit will be pulled through. Marketing Manager Colin Legg said: “The new F-Clamp system is ideal for applications where engineers need a heavy duty solution to secure conduit runs. Cable protection systems of different sizes can now be combined with other services in one area since our system
is compatible with the widely used Stauff system.” Constructed from PA66, the clamps are halogen-, sulphur- and phosphorous-free and are a Low Fire Hazard product suitable for use with any of Flexicon’s corrugated range of non-metallic flexible conduits in either fine or coarse pitch derivatives. The clamps are suitable for outdoor use and offer UV and high impact resistance and can be used in temperatures from -500°C to +1,350°C.
Thomas & Betts will be exhibiting at Infrarail under ABB for the first time since its acquisition by the group in 2012. The company will be bringing a portfolio of market-leading brands for railway safety and protection, including PMA, Furse, Adaptaflex and Emergi-lite. These will all be on show at the event, providing a complete range of rail safety and protection products including high-performance electrical cable ties, conduits and fittings, through to electronic trackside protection and emergency lighting.
Kaba security products on show will include the PowerPlex range of self- powered pushbutton locks
Exane family addition
Continuing development of the Exane range of cables will be highlighted by Goldwing Cable. Since the introduction of Exane to the UK, Goldwing Cable says it has worked hard to develop a range of cables suitable for today’s high demands within the rail sector. Utilising its world class Exane technology, the Exane PC Premises cable has been expanded from its original flexible form to include both a stranded version and the new addition to the Exane family, the Mica Tape Fire Resistant Exane PC MT Version. With a small robust irradiated structure, Exane PC or PC MT can be cut to length on demand and supplied at a moment’s notice to help maintain project deadlines.
