for grilled red King crab with Malvasía wine, toffee and aubergine poached with Tonka beans, for me, while my partner chose the Angus beef tartar with beetroot salad. Te beetroot and beef complemented each other, while the King crab was exactly that; more than ample sized pieces of crab delicately mixed with the other well- chosen ingredients. Tony, our maître d’, recommended a light and fruity Spanish white Sauvignon and this was to prove a perfect combination through- out the evening. For our main we opted for the couple cliché, a shared Chateaubriand with a five pepper sauce accompanied with fresh grilled vegetables. And what a good a choice it was. I was a little ap- prehensive when it came. My partner likes his medium rare and I’m a no blood, well done type. However, I can say they cooked it to perfection and we both had exactly what we ordered. In keeping with tradition, and not thinking of the gym or anything else energetic, we looked to
a finale of cheese and biscuits; a sweeter choice of mille-feuille with mascarpone and carda- mom, served with sweet apricot meringue and a complimentary sweet desert wine. Finally, cof- fees brought the curtain down nicely on our La Cúpula experience. Content and feeling a little calorie guilty we
retired to our room looking to make up for it in the morning with a stroll along the promenade
or a visit to the fully equipped gym. But alas, how wrong I was!
