top of the Iso-Syöte hill with fairy lights dot- ted throughout it and reindeer skins helping you to keep the arctic temperatures at bay. Tere is just a nightly rate of €78 pp for this unforgettable experience, so booking ahead is recommended. If you can brave the outside temperatures (which reached -35°C during my visit), the safaris offered by the hotel are nothing short of epic. Whatever your poison - snowmobile, husky or reindeer – you won’t be disappointed by the expert guides or thrilling experiences on offer. With all the necessary kit provided by the hotel – including snowsuits, gloves, helmets, boots and even socks – your adventure starts here. Tis is also the best way to enjoy the local landscape, which sees more snow in a year than anywhere else in the country. For pure exhilaration captaining a 12km husky safari has the edge. In sledges of two, you can lead the pack as you navigate the forests and ice-covered lakes among the wag- ging tails, before playing with the puppies back at the farm (€145 pp).
Alternatively, you can hunt down the North-
ern Lights on a nighttime snowmobile safari too. Offering plenty of photo opportunities and a delicious campside break, this is a fantastic trip even if it is lights out for nature’s greatest show (€119 pp). For a change of pace and heart rate, the reindeer caravan is as family-friendly as excursions come (€99 pp). Te activities don’t have to stop there, with traditional sledging, ice fishing, snowshoe hik-

Guests don’t have to suit up to relax here though, as a swimming pool with more than a view, spacious saunas and a cozy lobby bar all make downtime a pleasure. Chef Arto Posio is also on hand to serve up tasty local delicacies (think hearty stews and meat dishes) in the Panorama restaurant, which as you’d expect has another impressive view of the valley below. Anything else you need? Just ask Sales & Marketing Manager Gerralda Gilles and her team. Tey may not be able to make the Northern Lights appear, but they’ll certainly make you want to come back here to search for them again.
