Coach Howard Wins Third Straight Coach of the Year Honors
For the third consecutive year, Women’s Soccer Coach Jamie Howard was named the California Pacific Conference Coach of the Year.
“First of all, the glory goes to God who has provided me with the opportunity to coach,” stated Howard. “It feels great to be recognized by your peers, who I have great respect for as coaches. I am very blessed to have coached a special group of players, who have become selfless and worked hard this season.”
Three-peat Coach
of the Year: Parker Daniells
Cross Country Coach Parker Daniells (‘09) celebrated his third consecutive Cal Pac Coach of the Year honors for Men’s Cross Country. “It is an honor to be nominated by my peers in receiving Coach of the Year,” stated Coach Daniells. “It’s been an honor working with them over the past five years and learning from some amazing coaches. I am so excited to share this award with my Assistant Coach Jacob Rydman (‘06) and my wife Maria Daniells (‘08). We work very hard together as a team to make championships happen and it’s very rewarding to be selected. Tis achievement could not have been done without our team as well. Tis award is a general reflection of their success and hard work and we thank them for that.”
Daniells coached the Men’s team for its third consecutive Cal Pac Championship. Michael Basuini completed the season as 2013 Cal Pac Runner of the Year and Wayne Smith was awarded 2013 All- Conference Honors. `
Coach Daniells’ three-peat is best described by his own players. Basuini says, “Parker is set apart from other coaches because he creates an environment where the motivation to work hard and chase after goals comes from inside the team. He does not try to force passion onto us, but lets the passion inside of us grow individually and as a team which leads to an incredible amount of dedication to the sport and a strong faith in God.”

Howard’s inaugural year (3-13) as a head coach is a distant memory as she has transformed the Lady Warriors soccer program into a Cal Pac powerhouse. Te Warriors have been a staple atop the conference after netting five championships in the last eight years. She has compiled a 73-43-9 overall record, including an impressive 42-13-3 conference record. Howard has coached 41 All- Conference players, three CALPAC Players of the Year and two NAIA All-Americans.
Not only have the Warriors excelled on the field, they have thrived off the field. During Howard’s tenure, 12 Warrior players have been honored as NAIA/Daktronics Scholar-Athletes. Last summer, seven Warrior players participated in international mission trips.
Introducing
Warrior Nation Since childhood, William Jessup University sophomore Matt George had a dream to become a sports broadcaster. He spent many nights listening and commentating Sacramento Kings, Oakland A’s and many other games from his living room or bedroom. Now George’s dream has come true as he hosts Warrior Nation, a weekly sports show, which includes recaps, previews and special features of Warrior Athletics.
“We had dreams of putting Warrior Athletics on the internet and I knew immediately that George could be the guy to help us,” said Jeff Bussell, Sports Information Director. “Te passion he showed to reach his dream was amazing. I knew I wanted to help him. It’s been a blessing to watch him grow through his experience. He loves sports, but most of all he loves God.”
George started out announcing Warrior volleyball and basketball games as a freshman. By the time conference basketball games came around in January, George was traveling to road games to work side-by-side with KAHI 950 AM Radio Personality, Dave Rosenthal.
George has put a lot of time and effort into creating this show. “Te Jessup athletic department has wanted to establish a show or magazine and provide some sort of outlet where we could share sports information with students and the community,” stated George. “I am at Jessup because I want to become a sports broadcaster and they gave me the opportunity to build a sports media department and that’s what I am doing.”
Although George is the host of Warrior Nation, the show wouldn’t be possible without the people behind him including Media Services Supervisor, Josh Ribb and the tech team. Tey work together to effectively produce a show that engages all viewers keeping them up to date on Warrior Athletics.
