The events took place at the end of September at the NEC, Birmingham, and featured a wide range of exhibitors displaying a mix- ture of brand new products and examples from their product ranges. Exhibitors were pleased with not only the number of visitors who attended but also the quality, commenting that they received high quality enquiries; couldn’t complain about the footfall; were kept very busy; had interesting conversations; and that there was lots of potential business. National Instruments was just one company that signed up to attend the 2014 event during this year’s show, with Kyle Voosen from the company adding: “Thanks for a great show!” The seminars, meanwhile, were highly popular this year, in some cases with standing room only in the seminar suites. The Sensors & Instrumentation show fea- tured a diverse variety of products – ranging from sensors, pressure and flow instruments, and test and measurement equipment, to connectors, thermal imagers and enclosures. The Machine

Building event covered technologies ranging from motion control equipment to bearings and machine frameworks; and Micro Nano Mems covered injection moulding, precision components and laser systems. The three events took place alongside the Mediplas and TCT Live shows – interesting events which included such technologies as 3D print- ing, prototyping, product development and additive manufacturing. In fact exhibitors reported that the co-location worked well, with a steady flow of visitors between events. Details on the 2014 event will be announced soon. TCT 2013 Comment

I’m writing this comment just a few days after returning from the Sensors & Instrumentation, Machine Building and Micro Nano Mems shows (see news article, above), and it was great this year to see so many exhibitors taking part, with visitors lining up to discuss products and applications. In fact a number of people mentioned that the event this year was ‘buzzing’, that it had a great feel to it, and that the co-location worked so well, with visitors crossing between events.

Many exhibitors also mentioned how positive they are feeling about the future of

UK manufacturing and recent news reports are backing this up – manufacturing is increasing, companies are investing, and new products are being launched. This can only be good news for the UK economy. Rachael Morling – Editor
