Flexium+ taking you to the next level

This will be available as an integral motor for gearboxes and as a standard induction motor with mounting positions B3, B4 and B14. The range is initially available in two-pole, four-pole and six-pole versions with IEC 63 to IEC 160 frame sizes and power ratings from 0,12 to 18.5kW. Frame sizes from 180 to 315 will be available in the future. Efficient and flexible, these can be used worldwide at a wide variety of mains voltages and frequencies. Each motor’s winding is divided into two partial windings with a total of twelve leads – providing a large range of wiring options on the nine-bolt terminal board. This allows the motor to be wired for up to four different voltage level (Y, delta, double Y or double delta) configurations. In addition, they have an 87/100/120 Hz voltage frequency charac- teristic curve so can be driven by a frequency inverter with no need for special winding. The stator winding allows them to operate at double power in frequency inverter operation, with the motor power rising to twice the nominal rating.

The motor is specifically designed for the mounting of a wide variety of motor modules, with mechanical motor options including spring-loaded brakes, encoder systems, forced ventilation, backstops, etc. Featuring protection class IP55, these are available in foot-mounted and flange-mounted executions with B5 standard flange, B5 square flange for integral motors for gearboxes, and B14 flange options. New from Applied Motion Products, and available in the UK from Mclennan Servo Supplies, is the STM-R, a low-cost version of its STM series NEMA 17 and 23 frame stepper motors with integrally mounted microstepping drive and control. Reducing the choice of control options, the range only offers step and direction or cw/ccw pulse control modes; and is designed for use with an external controller that would typically provide one of these types of step/pulse signals. STM-R integrated steppers also include three digital inputs that accept pulse/direction and enable/disable motor power signals at 5-24 VDC. A single digital output is included for drive and motor fault. These use the same current control, anti-resonance, torque ripple smoothing and microstep emulation that is found throughout the STM series. Users requiring stall detection or position verification can select the 4000 count/rev encoder option. The 17-frame motor offers 2A per phase current capability, and the 23-frame, which is available in two stack lengths, has a 5A per phase peak. The motors are designed for operation between 12-48 VDC for the 17-frame motor, and 12-70 VDC for the 23-frame version. The maximum hold- ing torque spans 50 to 150 Ncm through the range. AMP’s full range of STM motors with drive and controls combine all motor and electronics components into a single device, with control options including the STM-Q controller version, CANopen or Ethernet/IP. Elmo Motion Control has added new products to its Gold Eagle fami- ly of high current military servo drives. With ratings of 150A, 300A and 600A and operating voltages from 16 to 96 VDC, the compact products have been designed to suit unmanned applications such as vehicles, turrets and other systems that require repeated power bursts for relatively long time periods. The ultra-high current specifications are a result of the company’s pro- prietary power conversion technology together plus an advanced pulse- width modulation (PWM) algorithm. This is said to be the first time such high current has been achieved in such a small military-grade package. Elmo Motion Control www.elmomc.com
