PENNSYLVANIA Coaches from the professional skating staff at the Pegu-
la Ice Arena and volunteers from Penn State FSC welcomed skaters from central Pennsylvania to the Pegula Ice Arena for this fi rst-time event at Penn State’s University Park campus. The event, held in conjunction with Disson Skating’s

Skating mascot Snowplow Sam, two-time Olympic pairs bronze medalist Isabelle Brasseur, two-time World bronze medalist Michael Weiss and two-time U.S. pairs champion Rocky Marval. “Rocky and Isabelle’s daughter, Gabrielle, joined her
parents on the ice,” Pegula Ice Arena’s Beth Eckert said. “The highlights of the sessions were the double death spiral per- formed by Isabelle, Gabrielle and Rocky and the backfl ip performed by Michael.”
It was a family atmosphere for the SkateFest on the campus at Penn State University. The event preceeded Disson Skating’s “Musselman’s Applesauce Family Skating Tribute.”
NEW YORK
The SkateFest in Jamestown, N.Y., was held in conjunction with Disson Skating’s “Progres- sive Skating & Gymnastics Spectacular.” Many of today’s top skating stars were there to meet and skate with locals at the Jamestown Savings Bank Arena. “It was a privilege to watch Marissa Castelli and Simon Shnapir (2013 U.S. pairs champions) and Ryan Bradley (2011 U.S. champion) work with all the skaters,” Jamestown FSC’s Ellen Darrow said. “They went above and beyond all expectations, giving individual attention to the skaters by helping with skating skills, answering questions, off ering encouragement, signing auto- graphs, posing for pictures and, of course, showing everyone some of their amazing skills. It was an event that left all involved with wonderful, lasting memories.”
Dozens of locals turned out for the SkateFest, held prior to the “Progressive Skating & Gymnastics Spectacular.” Organizers praised the cast of stars for their contributions in making the day a special one. The eff orts of Paula Wagener, Mary Elizabeth-Wightman, Mary Stanton, Susi Wehrli-McLaughlin, Brenda Glidewell, Lynn Plage and Pete Bockelman also helped to make the four SkateFests successful.
