FISHER NAMED USOC ATHLETE OF MONTH
Top performances throughout September earned paratriathlete Megan Fisher Athlete of the Month recognition, the United States Olympic Committee announced Oct. 9.

Fisher (Seattle, Wash.) won her third ITU Paratriathlon World Championship title in the TRI-5 division on Sept. 13 in London. Fisher completed the 750-meter swim, 20-kilometer bike, 5-kilometer run course in 1 hour, 26 minutes, 27 seconds to best the field, crossing the line more than 90 seconds ahead of the field. The paratriathlon world title was Fisher’s second in the month of September, following a gold medal in the C4 Road Race at Para-Cycling Road World Championships on Sept. 1.

Fellow USA Paratriathlon National Team member Aaron Scheidies (Seattle, Wash.), who also earned his third career ITU Paratriathlon World Championship medal on Sept. 13 (a silver in the TRI-6b division), was runner-up for the male Athlete of the Month.

Each National Governing Body may nominate one female, one male and one team per discipline for USOC monthly honors. A voting panel selects the winners from the pool of nominees with online fan voting via Twitter accounting for 10 percent of the total vote.
