in association with THE MOST INFLUENTIAL BRANDS IN LICENSING: ART & DESIGN >>> THE TATE
Brand Owner: The Tate
A family of four art galleries housing the UK’s collection of British art from 1500 plus international modern art. Quite simply, a must see for any visitor to London, or any local looking for a good day out in fact. Image licensing is just one area that helps to fund its activities. “The Tate Modern never fails to impress,” said one judge.
>>> KIRSTIE ALLSOPP
Brand Owner: Handled by BBC Worldwide
A successful example of celebrity endorsement creating product that has real appeal in its own right. Judges agreed that it seemed to be adapting and evolving well to keep pace. Location Location Locationstar Allsopp has recently launched a new line of bed sheets, plus her second home and giftwares ranges at Marks & Spencer

Brand Owner: Rob Ryan
An interesting inclusion in the list, Ryan is a British paper cutter artist who specialises in papercutting, screen printing, drawing and painting – although he is most famous for his detailed paper cut outs. His artwork has featured in Vogue, Elleand Stylist, while he has illustrated book and album covers. He has also created a beautiful range of licensed product.
>>> SCIENCE MUSEUM Brand Owner:
The Science Museum Group
Founded in 1857, The Science Museum is one of London’s major tourist attractions, with 2.7 million visitors annually. 26 =13 12 10 =8 >>> KEEP CALM, CARRY ON
Brand Owner: Keep Calm & Carry On Ltd (registered slogan in 2011)
Originally a motivational poster produced by the British Government in 1939 several months before the beginning of World War II. Rediscovered in 2000, it has since been used on a raft of products, also spawning various parodies. Jury is out as to if a slogan can be trademarked, as the words are so widely used.
>>> FATINA DREAMS
Brand Owner: Prudence Mak
Fatina Dreams is a world inspired by a doll who dreams herself alive to save the planet one dream at a time. A great example of design licensing where the design aesthetic continues through to product on detail and added value. All licensed product is unique and of high quality. Definitely one to see at Brand Licensing Europe.
>>> LIBERTY
Brand Owner: Liberty London
Judges praised Liberty for keeping its brand fresh and modern with great collaborations – for example the recent tie up with Hello Kitty. The spring/summer collection was entitled The Flower Show – ‘freshly picked and in full bloom’. It has also worked with fellow Power List entrants Jamie Oliver and Emma Bridgewater.
>>> LDN UNDERGROUND Brand Owner: TFL
“I simply think it’s very clever how you can turn an underground map into art,” commented one judge. While those of us who use it every day may take it for granted, for tourists the tube is an iconic part of London. And they can take a little bit of it home, too, with all manner of gifts available bearing the full map, as well as key stations
