Coast, UK high street interpretation of ballgowns found within the V&A’s fashion collection

Graniph, the Japanese design t-shirt brand inspired by pattern in swatch books from 1930–1970s

V&A Licensing continues the Museum’s founding mission, taking inspiration from its extraordinary collections of art and design, to drive and excite designers, manufacturers and retailers.

We are currently exploring a collection of Worth fashion illustrations that are an untapped resource for licensee’s. Recently, Coast have created a range of stunning ballgowns inspired by the V&A’s fashion archives looking at 1930s, 40s and 50s British couture. Graniph, the Japanese design t-shirt store, took inspiration from pattern books for 1960s wall décor and swatch books for dress fabrics dating from the 1930s to 1970s.

We work with our partners to create and maintain a level of visual recognition across the whole range of our licensed product, combining the different, individual requirements of licensees into a coherent, consistent expression of the V&A’s own brand vision.
