WTM

SPEED

What happens when you invite 200 travel buyers and 400 WTM exhibitors to spend an hour together in a room talking business?

WTM Speed Networking events are a not-to-be- missed initiative helping travel buyers and suppliers meet, network and discuss business opportunities.

WTM is a firm believer in putting people face-to- face to facilitate direct conversation, helping close all-important business deals. At WTM 2012, almost 8,000 club members attended the event, and a record £1.865 million in travel industry deals were generated – a 13% increase on WTM 2011’s £1.653 million. Speed networking and other WTM Buyers’ Club networking events played an instrumental role in this.

Think about speed dating in a business context. The format allows for buyers and exhibitors to meet for five-minutes to discover whether they have similar business interests that could be pursued during WTM or indeed beyond the event.

NETWORKING

It’s like dating but it’s strictly business!

the exhibitors rotate in a sequential process to a buyer after each five-minute exchange. The room is arranged according to the region the buyer is interested in purchasing from. The regions are then divided further into sub regions.

Exhibitors are given a delegate list of buyers in advance of the session in order to plan their time during the hour.

The idea is quantity initially, followed by quality. A typical scenario is 15 suppliers meet in an hour and leave with 10–15 business cards. Out of the short- listed companies, you may decide to meet with 7 or 8. Once you have met with the suppliers, you may find compatibility with 3 or 4 who, in turn, become dedicated business partners.

There will be two Speed Networking sessions during World Travel Market 2013. Kicking off the event will be a Monday session to help you meet the right people early on. There will also be a Thursday session giving that final opportunity to network and ensure your business opportunities extend beyond the event.

When and where?

Monday 4 November 9.00 – 10.00, WTM Knowledge Theatre

Thursday 7 November 9.00 – 10.00, WTM Knowledge Theatre
