Tere, he’ll square off against Chan and Hanyu, among others. “Patrick is a big deal, but because I trained with him for a couple of years [when Chan lived in Colorado Springs], it’s Yuzuru that has me a lit- tle bit starstruck,” he said. Farris tries not to anticipate the 2014 U.S. Championships, where two men’s spots on the 2014 Sochi Olympic Team will be up for grabs. But ask about it, and you can see him toeing that line yet again. “A couple of days ago I thought,
‘OK, odds are I’m not going to make it,’” he said. “But then I thought, ‘What if I do make it, and I’m an Olympian this year?’ Tere is that ac- tual possibility. It’s starting to inspire me. I’m going to work my butt off.”
Farris is stepping up his game this season, with two quads planned for his free skate.
