A TRUE RETREAT
The adults-only SANCTUARY forward on Deck 17 is another signature Princess feature where four cabanas can be rented for $80 per half-day or $130 for a full day.
This includes amenities such as a personal TV with noise-reducing headphones, sofas, robes and slippers, a fully stocked mini-bar, and fruit and snacks.
There are also blissfully comfortable sun-loungers that can be rented for $15 per half-day or $25 for a full day.
Serenity Stewards bring cold towels and iced water infused with fruit essence, and there’s a dedicated menu for snacks that can be served in this aerie throughout the day.
Two Lotus Spa Cabanas are set in an exclusive area of the Sanctuary boasting unimpeded ocean views. These feature a comfortable rest area with TV and plush chairs as well as a treatment area with two massage tables.
Couples cabana massages start at $320 for an 80-minute treatment and escalate to the $3,000 ‘Royal Indulgence’ for four, providing the ultimate in all-day pampering with an array of massages, treatments and gourmet food – plus a bottle of Dom Perignon Champagne and caviar served by butlers.
white, red and dessert wines, as well as a souvenir menu. There is also a Chef’s Table for 12 guests in the Symphony and Concerto Dining Rooms where Wine Maker’s Din- ners (on selected cruises) are created for an additional $45. Not surprisingly, the décor is redolent of a wine cellar with some rare vintages on display.
O
n my cruise, I sampled White Bean Veloute and Chorizo with Langoustine Flambé and
Calvados; Asiago Cheese Stuffed Gnocchi with Portobello Mushroom Cream Sauce; Tournedos Rossini with Roast Château Potatoes and Market Vegetables; finished off with a Napoleon of Chocolate, Coffee and Cointreau Mousses. To accompany this feast the sommelier served a Pink Kimono Champagne Cocktail; a Sicil- ian Donnafugata Anthilia; and the Super Tuscan Lucente della Vite.
The hallmark Sabatini’s Restaurant features northern Italian cuisine ($25 supplement) and has a centrepiece wine tower showcasing vintages that would delight the most discerning oenologist. The club-like ambiance of the signa- ture Crown Grill is a perfect choice for premium Australian Sterling Silver steaks, chops and seafood served from the open kitchen ($25 supplement).
One of the most significant enhance- ments is the doubling in size of the Ho- rizon Court offering 900 indoor and 350 outdoor seats. There are also 60 per cent more two-person and four-person tables and fewer tables of eight. An action-station layout has been created for food ‘venues,’ including a Japanese hibachi grill, rotisseries and carving stations, a taqueria and salad stations, plus an adjacent Pastry Shop (claimed to be an industry first) offering speciality treats.
