Karacho Tripsdrill goes 360
The charming German amusement park Tripsdrill (near Stuttgart) has launched its first looping coaster. Karacho is the 50th rollercoaster to be realised by Gerstlauer Amusement Rides and it’s fitting that it should go to the Fischer family at Tripsdrill, who 18 years ago showed their faith in
former Schwarzkopf employee Hubert Gerstlauer by buying his first coaster, G’sengte Sau (Bobsled). The new launch coaster, whose name translates as “pelt,” features a 700-metre custom layout packed full of thrills and surprises. After being propelled out of the station area with the force of a 2,000 hp engine, the 8-passenger train heads straight into a heartline roll followed by four inversions, a mist-filled tunnel, special effects and much more. During the 1 minute and 15 second ride, each of Karacho’s four cars reaches a top speed of 100kmh.
Despite the certain thrill factor, Karacho is attractive to a wide range of Tripsdrill guests. The minimum passenger height is 1.25m, although guests under eight must be accompanied by an adult. A spring-mounted chassis ensures optimum passenger comfort, while lap bars (rather than over the shoulder restraints) give riders more freedom.
Emmanuel Mongon of Imaginvest in Paris, who has collaborated on many previous Tripsdrill projects including its last coaster (Mammut in 2008), was responsible for the fun theming. Further decorative elements will be added between now and the start of next season.

Elton Games felt on top of the world recently after installing a nine- player Kentucky Derby at Tibidabo, the famous
mountain-top amusement park in Barcelona
(pictured below).
“The logistics of taking a game to such a destination was a challenge to say the least,” reports Elton’s Tony Whittaker, “however the fantastic backdrop offered by such a great city made it all worthwhile.”
The British supplier was set to have three Derby games on show at the Euro Attractions Show opening reception this month at the Museé des Arts Forains in Paris.
