Celebrating success at the Network
Rail Partnership Awards 2013 The 2013 Network Rail Partnership Awards recognised a wide range of successful companies bringing value to the industry, celebrating best practice on key projects and upgrades.
Aug/Sept 2012 edition of Rail Technology Magazine, when we spoke to Dr Brian Denby about the technology’s use on the F2A project.
The ceremony was held at Park Plaza in London on July 24. Simon Kirby, managing director of
Network Rail Infrastructure
Projects, welcomed suppliers and contractors to the awards and highlighted the need for continuing innovation to drive up safety and efficiency on the railway.
Actor and comedian Hugh Dennis hosted the awards.
Mission Room (pictured) won the Safety award for their ‘Safer sites by immersion’ project, which provided 360 degree videos and images of real and future sites to help improve site understanding. Mission Room featured in the
Skansa Civil Engineering won the Heritage award for Borough Viaduct work, and Costain Laing O’Rourke & Network Rail Infrastructure Projects were awarded Sustainable Excellence for the Thameslink programme Farringdon station, where 100% of waste was diverted from landfill.
Aspin Group received the Best Use of Technology and Driv- ing Efficiencies awards for their trackbed enhanced axial micro- piles, making deep excavations more cost effective. The piling
The Community Engagement award went to Signalling Solutions for
the project. Bletchley remodelling
solution reduces the number of imposed linespeed restric- tions, with work im- plemented in shorter possessions.
The Investing in People award went to Track Design Alliance
for their track design trainee programme,
which involved a
training passport that combined formal training and practical experience. All trainees were offered a permanent role at the end of their programmes.
BAM Nuttall won the Best Small Project award – valued at under £3m – for York Engineer’s Triangle with engine turntable installation, while Invensys Rail was awarded the Best Medium Project – £3-20m – for Reading station remodelling of the western line: resignalling stage F. The Best Large Project
award – for work valued over £20m – went to Skansa Civil Engineering for Borough Viaduct.
Best Collaboration went to Hochtief
(UK) Construction for
work under a ‘Pure Alliance Agreement’ on the Hitchin flyover (covered in detail in RTM August/ September 2012), which led to completion five months early.
N.G. Bailey was named Supplier of the Year 2013.
