New Beacon Dance Programme Launch

BEACON DANCE offers classes in Contemporary, Creative Movement, Street Dance, Ballet and Jazz. We have an experienced team of professional leaders who specialise in dance and run an exciting, innovative programme throughout the year. There is also the exciting opportunity of becoming part of our Beacon Youth Dance Company for those age 14+.

The Beacon’s new dance programme has been put together by the Beacon’s new Associate Artist for Dance, Gail Sneddon.

‘I want to introduce dance to the young people as much more than learning steps to music and training in technique, I want to champion dance as a creative art form which challenges them to become the authors of their own creativity whilst having a lot of fun.’

Gail Sneddon August 2013

The project will link young people up with leading dance artists in order for them to realise that dance could be a great past time and it could also become a career. Taking part will enable the young people involved to experience some of the numerous opportunities that can come from training in dance and see that if you choose, you can be a dancer, performer, fight or movement director for film and television, you might even become a choreographer of aerial dance work for large scale events if that’s your passion.

The programme includes

• Early years dance for children aged 16 months to 4 years and their parent/ carer

• Creative movement, contemporary technique, street dance, jazz and ballet for those aged 5years to 21 years

Beacon Youth Dance Company which will focus on performance opportunities throughout the year for dancers aged 14 years and over
