Inverclyde’s Scottish Folk & Roots Festival :

Across The Generations

Riverside Inverclyde (ri) has been awarded a grant by Creative Scotland to enable what is hoped the be the first of an annual event : Inverclyde’s Scottish Folk & Roots Festival : Across The Generations.

Bill Nicol, CEO at ri said : “we’re delighted the bid has been successful. This complements ri’s strategic focus on creative industries and community benefits. The local economy can benefit from a successful annual event such as this.”

The festival will run on five consecutive weekends from 26th October to 23rd November at Greenock’s new Beacon Arts Centre. Riverside Inverclyde is grateful to Creative Scotland for funding for what it terms a “quality production programme”. From traditional to original songs,

from acoustic folk to electric roots, from Gaelic songs to urban folk, from reflective songs to foot-stomping anthems; from sing-alongs to high energy folk’n’roll; with some nods to Americana along the way – there’s something for all ages.

Advance ticket prices only £5 for each Studio Theatre show (including Alastair McDonald, Scocha, Duncan McCrone, Ted Christopher, String Driven Thing and Roy Henderson) and only £10 advance for each Main Theatre show featuring the wonderful Karen

Matheson Band and The Alphabetical Order Orchestra (from My Latest Novel). Tickets an additional £2.50p on day of show.

Every bill will feature an Inverclyde artist such as Yvonne Lyon, Reely Jiggered, Ten Gallon Bratz, Lynnie Carson, Gordon McKenzie, Martin Jones, Slippery Elm, Davy Nicol and John Morgan.
