starting with a kit, consider replacing the standard length Kadee “Scale Whisker” coupler with the short center- set No. 153. The performance will be the same and the noticeable protrusion of the coupler will be reduced. Wheelsets can be replaced with any number of the standard 1.015″ long axles with .088″ wheel width for better looking wheel treads. This also reduces if not elimi- nates flanges rubbing on the back side of the end sill on tight radii. For any modification, remove the brake rigging molding except that in- termediate to the brake chain and the brake wheel. Clip the rodding at each anchor above the trucks preserving the tabs on the centersill. Preserve the brake cylinder with its lever and chain. The triple valve is discarded; the reser- voir and its two pipes to the triple valve are left in place. For the Duryea cars, cut nine pieces of 2″×4″ styrene to mimic the length of the nine cross

The Wellsville, Addison & Galeton had eight ex-B&O O-59 gondolas on its roster. Tangent Models’ HO scale kit for the B&O gondola is a great starting point for modeling this car. The author’s main changes were to add additional brake rigging detail to the underbody, which can be seen in the accompanying in-progress photographs.
