Eaton PV Firemans Switches D

Motors for district heating system

ix ABB medium voltage motors are providing the compression stage for the world’s largest district wide natural heat pump system. Based on a heat pump solution provided by Star Refrigeration of Glasgow, the district heating system will provide over 13MW of heat for Drammen, a community of 60,000 on the Drammen Fjord near Oslo, Norway. The heat pump extracts heat from sea water by raising the temperature of an ammonia refrigerant via a heat exchanger. The now gaseous ammonia is then compressed by a motor driven compressor, raising the temperature of the ammonia to around 900C.

S The heat from the ammonia is then

transferred via another heat exchanger to the hot water supply system. Six ABB 11kV motors were selected to drive the ammonia compressors, three of 660kW and three of 1,250kW. As well as the cooling requirements, the ABB motors also had to cope with frequent starts and stops to account for the varying heating demands throughout the day and year.

iversified industrial manufacturer Eaton has launched an addition to its established SOL30-SAFETY PV firemans switch and now offers turnkey solutions in the form of ready to install and connect device combinations. The new SOL30X PV firemans switch features 2, 3, 4 or 6 firemans switches - 30 A DC switch disconnectors with a 230 V, 50 Hz undervoltage release - in a common enclosure. The new offering has been introduced to meet customer demand for a solution that is suitable for PV installations consisting of several strings and voltages of up to 1,000 V DC. In the event of a fire, PV firemans switches de- energise the cable between the solar modules and the power inverter. This fully removes any danger to the firefighters resulting from live direct current lines. Firemans switches which can be triggered remotely considerably increase safety when fighting fires in buildings with PV installations. With an integrated undervoltage trip release, Eatons PV firemans switches can be actuated remotely using a PV emergency off button.

conomy Series is the new LED range from Megaman UK that has been designed for use in domestic applications.

The Economy Series product family offers many of Megman’s most popular lamp shapes, including candle, classic and GX53, all created to offer an LED alternative to CFL decorative lamps. Using the company’s unique “heat sink” design which allows for heat dissipation, lamps in this range emit considerably less heat than equivalent incandescent lamps but offer an excellent lumen output with 15,000 hours life.

As the Economy Series includes Megaman’s most popular lamp

shapes, the range is ideal for homeowners who want to start switching to LED alternative light sources.

ompliant with IEC 60601-2-2* and fully compatible with products from the leading electrosurgical device manufacturers such as Olympus KeyMed, Erbe, Bowa, Eschmann and Covidien, the Uni-Therm from Rigel Medical verifies and calibrates all major electrosurgical generators while guiding the user through all test procedures quickly,

automatically and all safely.

The instrument measures high frequency leakage, (high) current, power distribution and patient return plate alarm testing. A high power load bank enables performance

testing up to 8A RMS to allow testing and calibration of high current vessel sealing technologies and with a duty cycle of up to 100%, making the analyser an extremely versatile test instrument for calibrating and performance testing of conventional and high power electrosurgical generators. * IEC 60601-2-2 specifies the requirements for the safety of high frequency surgical equipment and HF surgical accessories used in medical practice.

The original just got better A

ico, one of the UK’s leading suppliers of domestic mains powered Fire and Carbon Monoxide (CO) alarms, is pleased to announce its market-leading RadioLINK Professional wireless interconnection technology has been upgraded to feature remote House Code entry and the ability to add full control to mixed (or ‘hybrid’) hard-wired and RF systems. RadioLINK works by allowing Aico Multi-Sensor, Smoke, Heat and Carbon Monoxide (CO) alarms to be wirelessly interconnected by Radio Frequency (RF) signals,

rather than

cabling. If one alarm on the system is triggered, RF signals cause every other alarm on that system to sound, providing the earliest warning to the building’s occupants. Because there is no need to run interconnect cabling between the alarms and lift floorboards, chase cables or fit trunking, RadioLINK saves time and disruption when installing systems in existing properties.

Unique Valve and Manifold Configurators

ith Bifold, you can use our unique online drag and drop Modular Manifold Configurator to design highly bespoke manifold systems effortlessly. The manifold can be designed from the circuit sequence down to the orientation of individual modules to your exact specification. Once designed an interactive 3D rendered model is immediately viewable online and an installation drawing, bill of materials and 3D CAD model are automatically emailed upon design verification from Bifold. You can use our Valve Model Configurator to create the valve you require and download a bespoke configured datasheet with a single click. The 3D CAD model is then automatically emailed. The datasheet contains a tracking image which enables you to view the rendered image in real time, in augmented reality and to scale using the Bifold Model Viewer, available on the App Store for iPad and iPhone; and Google Play for android devices. Go to apps.bifold.co.uk for more details.
