Suppliers verify they will deliver the part as promised with the production part approval process in a quality control plan.

nce a quality tool only used by large automo- tive OEMs, the production part approval process (PPAP) as part of advance product quality plan- ning (APQP) has been trickling down to large- to-medium OEMs from other industries. Proper PPAP documentation from your metal casting supplier will hinge on clear communication about the part’s requirements, risk and importance. “When we fi rst began providing PPAP documen-
