Magna Equips New Plants for Expansion Magna, Aurora, Ontario, Canada,
has ordered three diecasting machines for its new plants in Michigan and China. Italy-based Idra, with North American headquarters in Kokomo, Ind., announced the tier 1 automotive supplier has placed an order for two 4,400-ton and one 2,400-ton diecast- ing machines. T ey are earmarked for the production of large, lighweight aluminum structural parts for car body and suspension assemblies. Cosma Casting Michigan, Magna
operating unit Cosma International’s automotive casting components and systems facility in Battle Creek, Mich., is expected to create up to 572 new jobs based on investment of up to $162 million. According to Idra, Magna plans
to install additional machines in the near future, to ensure it has the capacity required to meet demand. Magna makes aluminum structural parts for the European market in Soest, Germany.
