Artemis Racing: the long road back.

Artemis Racing's struggle to compete in the 34th America's Cup was always going to be a tough one. The task of modifying their second boat to get it foiling, load testing it, launching it and working it up to a safe race ready state, is a gargantuan one and has required the dedication and commitment of the entire sailing and non-sailing team. Added to the challenge was the fact that the Swedish team's efforts to eventually make the Louis Vuitton Cup startline were also under threat as a bi-product of the Emirates Team New Zealand and Luna Rossa protests against changes to the rules on the size of the elevator wings on the AC72 rudders. If the Kiwis and Italians succeeded in getting the rules changed then Artemis said the would lack the necessary rudder hardware to comply with the rules. On Saturday July 6 we asked team CEO Paul Cayard and helmsman Nathan Outteridge to explain the nitty gritty of the situation:
