However we can’t always follow this procedure, sometimes there’s no time and I’m the one feeding the information to the crew."  Bruni said the tight confines imposed by virtual boundaries on the San Francisco racecourse made life even more difficult and meant he had another set of information to keep a watchful eye on in addition to the normal wind and boatspeed data.  "In addition to common sources of information and onboard instrumentation, on the AC72 what is fundamental is the boundaries’ geometry. Both the computer onboard and the lightening system inform you when you are overtaking them. The boundaries govern the regatta - the time and the distance to the boundary."  Draper confirmed that his dialogue with Bruni and the rest of the crew was generally a non-stop conversation to help them take the fastest path line around the course.  "There is a lot of communication between myself and the team concerning the manoeuvres," he said. "We have a lot of things to take into consideration, such as the boundaries. Francesco and I discuss together what the plan is around the course, and I pass that information on to everybody.
