even then the weather may delay the racing and demand a re-think by the organisers even if there are as many reserve days as there are those for racing.  The promised spectacular regatta on the Bay begins to look more remote than ever and the promise to television that every race would start to schedule and on time would appear misplaced. Perhaps the only consolation is that when the final of the LV Cup begins on August 17th, there will be two races each day although the Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays are spare days. Where on earth did that scheduling arise?  But of course those races are only to discover who will be good enough to tackle the perceived might of Oracle. This is the team that began with a huge technological advantage, generated from the research and development of the giant wing-sailed trimaran, USA-17. That advantage appears to have somewhat evaporated and the teams that chose their designers well have closed the gap. Some have even hired in the late stages – Mike Drummond, the Kiwi who was with BMW Oracle for the 2010 Cup, has recently been recruited to consult with Artemis.  So, it is all very last minute, but it was ever so years ago and the America’s Cup match will take pride of place. No one would want otherwise.
