Powerful Horizontal Machining Center HU63EX horizontal machining center boosts metalworking produc-

tivity through a combination of precision, power and torque. The 17,000-kg machine has a footprint of 2900 × 3180 mm with X, Y and Z axes travels of 900, 800 and 800 mm, respectively. The machine offers X, Y and Z-axis positioning and repeatability accuracy of ±0.001 mm and B axis (rotating the 630-mm square pallet) and accuracy of ±2 second with repeatability ±1 second. The machine’s standard 50-taper, 6000-rpm spindle offers 18.5/15 kW (30 min/ continuous, 24.7/20 hp) power with 601 N•m torque, delivered through a two-step gearbox. Optional spindles, a three-step gearbox, and an integral built-in motor are available. The machine’s structure maximizes rigidity and accuracy with a bed that is a single casting supported at three points and specially developed rib configuration. Mitsui Seiki USA Inc. Helical Milling Cutter

HeliqMill 390 line of helical milling cutters offers a triangular insert with three cutting edges—with 10 and 15-mm cutting edge lengths the same lengths as an insert with two edges. The new insert with three edges has a stronger structure, and its clamping into the pocket features high rigidity. The advanced cutting geometry of the new insert results in a precise 90° shoulder. A wiper flat provides

excellent surface finish. The new tools are intended for machin- ing shoulders, slots and planes. In addition, they can be a good choice in milling surfaces, ramping-down or helical interpola- tion such as pockets or cavities. The tools are available as end mills with shanks and face mills with a central bore. Inserts are produced from Sumo Tec carbide grades. Iscar Metals

Low-Cost, High-End CMM

EasyScope CMM features a high-end image processor optical system in a low-cost machine. The image processor system

evaluates all pixels in the field of view, enabling filtering and image enhance- ment that goes far beyond the limita- tions of the old edge detector optics. Low-contrast parts

can be measured consistently, eliminating the problem of un- reliable measuring programs due to variations in part surface reflectivity. Measuring range of the EasyScope is 200 × 150 × 150 mm. WinWerth software features teach mode and is easy to use and powerful with DMIS language in the background. Werth Inc.
