Stakes Results Miss Tahnee Mara goes two for two in the Rocky Mountain Futurity
In only her second start, Miss Tahnee Mara logged her second win of her career in the May 19 Rocky Mountain Futurity at Pocatello Downs in Pocatello, Idaho. She ran the 330-yard futurity in :17.364, crossing the wire first in the field of 10. The winner of her trial heat, Miss Tahnee Mara captured a speed index of 86 in the finals and took home $2,800 for owner Janyce Paulsen of Pocatello. A 2011 chestnut tobiano mare, Miss Tahnee Mara is by Ontheline and out of Mighty Miss Leinster (QH). Bred by Jason Fellows of Weston, Idaho, the mare is trained by Guy Weeks and was ridden by Dallas Erickson. Second-place money of $1,330 went to BG How Fast Can Urun, a 2-year-old Appaloosa who crossed the finish line in :17.54 for a speed index of 81. Ridden by Todd Thomas, the gelding by Jess Mr Perry (QH) and out of Singer Of Simplesong (ApHC) is trained by Derrick Grant.
KT Kong, a 2-year-old Appaloosa by With Honors (QH) and out of Sheza Snappy Appy, placed third, running the 330 yards in :17.60. Capturing a speed index of 79, the colt took home $840. Trained by Glen Jamison, KT Kong was ridden by Tyson Lusk. Other horses in the field included CH The Banger, Rabbit Klaws, Una Mas (ApHC), Reb Taylor (ApHC), Little Soldier (ApHC), Smoken Blue (ApHC) and Blue Denim Dasher (ApHC).

US Cover Girl finds fame in the Bucking Horse Sale Futurity
With all the buzz that encircles a budding starlet, US Cover Girl found herself the center of attention following her win in the Bucking Horse Sale Futurity May 25 in Miles City, Montana. She covered the 300-yard distance in :16.17 for a speed index of 78. The stakes win for owner/breeder Jerry Chapman of
Waco, Texas, came in the 2-year-old bay tobiano filly’s first career start, and she took home $2,700 for the effort. Trained by Mike Taylor, US Cover Girl—who is by Country Quick Dash and out of Treasured Fancy— was ridden by Justin Vanderwoude.
In a close finish, Sucha Dash Of Bling earned second- place honors and a paycheck of $1,270 for her effort. Piloted by Brian Beetem, the filly crossed the finish line in :16.25 for a speed index of 76. A 2-year-old bay tobiano mare by Suchanimage and out of Country Eyeopener, Sucha Dash Of Bling is owned by Todd Bolman of Reliance, South Dakota, and was trained by James Howard, who also bred the filly along with his wife, Dr. Wendy Howard of Blackhawk, South Dakota.
